Dear Worth Township residents,
As your newly-elected Worth Township Democratic Committeeman, I thank you for your support and welcome your ideas on how this office can help you and those important to you. My goal is to let voters in our proud community know that their opinions and thoughts really do matter.
My inspiration to run was my late mother, Joan Patricia Murphy, a true public servant and elected official for over 50 years. She was the first woman to be elected into each of her offices including, Cook County Commissioner 6th district, Worth Township Supervisor, Worth Township Clerk, and Village of Crestwood Clerk. I am proud to continue her legacy as the first woman to be elected Committeeman of Worth Township.
I grew up in Worth Township and throughout the years, I recall the strength of the Democratic organization and the excitement election season brought. Hundreds of constituents attended meetings and engaged in elections. Neighbors knocked on doors and placed signs in their yards to spread the word about their candidates - candidates who represented their voice. Sadly, some of that excitement has been replaced by skepticism and uncertainty about the worth of those running for office. Thankfully, my campaign was filled with excitement and support I remember as a child growing up in a family that got involved in order to help others. I was the grateful recipient of support like this in our most recent election, but along the way, I heard from many people who have lost confidence in government. Some feel leaders are self-serving. I’m here to work hard for our families and businesses alike, to show them that as a public servant, I will listen to their stories and passions and always have an open-door policy offering assistance wherever I can. The Spring election showed my voter base in Worth Township was formidable. I will not let that base down. And if I didn’t have your support, I am confident I will earn it. Let’s build our Democratic organization together. I invite you to ask questions, find out more, and get involved.
