Registration Open For Crestwood's Run/Walk Against Crime 3K

Crestwood hosts first-ever Run/Walk Against Crime 3K during National Night Out on Aug. 7. Register before July 21 to get a T-shirt.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- The Village of Crestwood will kick off National Night Out with the first-ever Run/Walk Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The 3K run/walk aims to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and develop police and community partnerships. Children and adults are invited to participate in the 3K (approximately 1.8 miles), but you have to leave your dog at home.

Participants have the option of running or walking, which will take place on a 3K course. Runners and walkers will receive a Run/Walk Against Crime T-shirt, a swag bag and an award upon completion. Strollers and wagons are allowed but will be placed toward the back of the pack. The 3K will not be timed.

Register in person at the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center, 5331 W 135th St., or online. The cost is $6 for children ages 4-12, and $8 for adults age 13 and up. Those who register after July 21 may not receive a T-shirt. Packet pick-up will be available Aug. 4 through Aug. 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center, on Aug. 7, when runners and walkers check in.

Check-in is at 5 p.m. Aug. 7; the 3K starts at 5:30 p.m. Participants will gather at Walker Park, 14065 Waterbury Drive, Crestwood. The course takes runners and walkers through neighborhood streets between 139th Street and 137th Place. The 3K will take place rain or shine.
