Sertoma Centre Celebrates Mind-Blowing Results for 2nd Annual Giving Tuesday Campaign
Sertoma Centre tasted sweet success when the agency raised over $23,000 for #serviceTUEmankind campaign on Giving Tuesday

Sertoma Centre participated in it’s 2nd Annual Giving Tuesday campaign called #serviceTUEmankind on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. The agency raised over $15,000. This year, The Coleman Foundation partnered with Sertoma Centre to match every new donated dollar up to $10,000. According to initial calculations on the match, Sertoma Centre should receive an additional $7,800 from The Coleman Foundation bringing the grand total to over $23,000 raised! The goal of the campaign was to raise $40,000 towards the renovation of Sertoma’s CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) homes to accommodate wheelchairs and other equipment for senior citizens at the organization. Each time the agency reached a significant benchmark, members of Sertoma’s management team voluntarily took a pie to the face. These events were recorded on Facebook Live and even Executive Director Gus van den Brink has proof of his “sacrifice” when $10,000 was raised.
Sertoma staff were enthusiastic and dedicated their time as well as monetarily donated to the cause. The consumer families gave generously in response to the volunteers’ calls, in particular from Staff Service Coordinator, Paula Biancalana. A big shout out goes to Board Member and owner of X4 Solutions, Dennis “DJ” Fioretti, who got the phone room ready for the all-day telethon and made a personal appearance to get a big pie in the face too! Both the Centre and Foundation Board were generous with significant gifts that took the contributions over the top.
According to Debra Marillo, Director of Advancement and Communications for Sertoma, “It really does take a village to get results like this. Those who watched from a distance by viewing Sertoma Centre’s social media pages could feel the “Spirit of Sertoma” in action. The consumers fueled the passion for others to want to give and help keep delivering the high quality of services it’s known for.”
