ALSIP, IL -- <a href="https://www.stjudehockey.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">St. Jude Knights</a> 10U Squirt team brought home the championship banner this past weekend from <a href="http://www.theshowts.com/tournaments-by-location/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">The Show Tournament in Detroit</a>. The Squirts allowed zero goals to be scored against them The team draws students from all over Southland. The Squirts main ice rink is Southwest Ice Arena, but the St. Jude Youth Hockey Club also calls Oak Lawn Ice Arena and Morgan Park Sports Center home. Independence Junior High School

The Board of Education of Palos Heights School District 128 will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Independence Jr. High, 6610 W. Highland Dr., Palos Heights, IL 60463. The purpose of said hearing will be to receive public comment on the renewal of the current E-Learning program, which, if approved, will continue to permit students’ instruction to be received electronically while students are not physically present in lieu of the district’s scheduled emergency days. This program is allowed under Public Act 101-0012. If approved, the E-Learning program will be implemented for a three-year term.
