ALDI Store Celebrates Grand Re-Opening Friday, Dec. 16, in Alsip

Residents invited to ALDI's grand reopening in Alsip. First 100 shoppers in line to receive ALDI gift cards.

ALSIP, IL -- The much awaited grand reopening of the newly updated ALDI grocery store in Alsip is set for this month. The store at 11340 S. Cicero Ave. has been closed for the past several weeks while undergoing renovation.

To celebrate the reopening for the expanded Alsip store, ALDI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16. The public is invited to attend. Following the ceremony, the first 100 shoppers will receive a golden ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards of various amounts.

Shoppers can also tour the store, sample ALDI exclusive brand products and enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce. ALDI currently carries over 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables, including several organic produce items. The Alsip ALDI store receives deliveries of fresh produce every day of the year.

“We are pleased to showcase the new look of ALDI with this updated store in Alsip and continue to help customers stretch their dollars,” said Matt Thon in a news release, the Valparaiso division vice president for ALDI. “As important as price is, there’s only one way to attract and keep shoppers: You have to have quality products. When people try our ALDI exclusive brands, they are excited by the savings and impressed by the quality.”

ALDI redesigned the Alsip store based on customer input. The Alsip location presents a new look, offering a modern and convenient shopping environment featuring more room for shoppers’ favorite products, inviting colors, high ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting. The store is simple to navigate with easy-to-spot product signage and prominent product prices. The new store makes it easier for families make smart choices with healthy tips within the produce section and “Dietitian’s Picks” – healthy products handpicked by leading nutrition experts.

In addition to the store’s new look, ALDI will bring shoppers a wide range of premium groceries from which to choose, such as organic produce, USDA Choice beef, the liveGfree gluten-free product line and the SimplyNature line of products free from over 125 artificial ingredients and preservatives. All exclusive brand food products are free of added MSG, certified synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils.

ALDI claims that customers who switch from national brands to ALDI’s exclusive brands can save up to 50 percent on their grocery bill. To ensure its exclusive brands meet or exceed the national brands on taste and quality, ALDI conducts rigorous testing on all products. ALDI stands behind this quality with a Double Guarantee: If for any reason a customer is not 100-percent satisfied with a food product, ALDI will gladly replace the product and refund the customer’s money.

ALDI eliminates overhead costs through smart practices, such as a cart rental system, a smaller store footprint, open carton displays and encouragement of customers to bring their own reusable shopping bags.

ALDI also saves shoppers money by keeping stores open during prime shopping times. The remodeled location will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Over the next several years, ALDI plans to add an average of 130 new stores each year, expanding the ability to bring grocery savings to more people every day.
