Video: iPads and the developing interactive classrooms of D218

A new academic era at Shepard

In this second of three videos featuring Honors English I, Shepard High School teacher Laura Friesema
employs Padlet, a great tool for teachers to use that promotes interactive student engagement (which researchers have found to significantly affect student achievement.).

"It’s a great forum (or meeting space) that allows students to share ideas with each other quickly. It helps students collaborate with each other, and it gives me insight into all students’ thinking," Mrs. Friesema said.

Teachers post an assignment. Using their iPads, students post their responses, analyses, interpretations, whatever the teacher has requested.

The student responses appear on the projector screen in bulletin board fashion.
