Worth Township Christmas Cares Seeks New Toy And Clothing Donations

Worth Township Youth Commission is collecting new unwrapped toys for children ages 0-14. Financially-strapped parents can apply for help.

ALSIP, IL — Worth Township Youth Commission is now accepting donations of new toys, new clothing and donations or money or gift cards that will be used to buy children's items in bulk for the township's Christmas Care Program. The program provides families who are struggling financially with a little extra help filling stockings for their children up to age 14. Toys and other gifts can be dropped off during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, at Worth Town Hall, 11601 S. Pulaski Road, Alsip.

New toys should be wrapped and tagged for a boy or girl. Items don't have to be expensive. Suggested gifts include books, board games, puzzles, Barbies, superhero action figures, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, craft kits and dolls. The youth commission is especially in need of gifts for the 10 to 14 age range. For older kids, consider watches, jewelry, purses, wallets, art supplies, PG rated DVD movies, personal hygiene, perfume, aftershave, pajamas, socks and winter gear. The youth commission is also accepting donations of new children’s clothing and gently worn winter gear. Clothing and toys will go to local youngsters in the Worth Township service area.
If you know of any family residing in Worth Township that could use some help purchasing gifts for their children, applications are being taken now for the Christmas Care Program through Dec. 8 at the Worth Township office by downloading the application. No applications will be accepted after the closing date. Complete the application and drop it off IN PERSON. When returning the applications, bring the following documents to be verified:

  • Valid driver's license or state ID with the current township address,
  • A utility bill with current address (electric, gas, water)
  • Birth certificates of all children who qualify (up to the age of 14 years old)
  • All documents must be valid and have the current address listed. All documents will be verified and all documents will be returned immediately.
