Worth Township Launches Christmas Cares, Seeks New Toy Donations

ALSIP, IL — For local families who are struggling financially and need a little extra help putting some presents under the tree, Worth Township Youth Commission is kicking off its Christmas Care Program.

The township is collecting donations of new toys and clothing for children up to age 14. Toys and other gifts can be dropped off during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, at Worth Township Hall, 11601 S. Pulaski Road, Alsip, until Dec. 7.

Suggested gifts for younger kids Suggested gifts for the younger kids include books, board games, puzzles, Barbies, superhero action figures, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, craft kits and dolls.

The youth commission especially needs gifts for older kids, such as socks, board games, soaps and shampoo, cologne, perfume, sweaters/hoodies, books, puzzles, $5 gift cards to fast food restaurants or anything else you might think an older kid would desire for Christmas.

Donations of money and gift cards will also be used to buy children’s items in bulk for the program.

If you know of any family residing in Worth Township that could use some help providing gifts for their children, the youth commission will be taking applications from November 20 through December 7.
