Worth Township Offers Super Senior Day And Mobile Drivers Service

ALSIP, IL – Seniors can renew, replace or correct a driver’s license or state ID, get their vision checked and see if they have unclaimed property at Worth Township’s Super Senior event, Thursday, Sept. 15. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Worth Township Center, 11601 S. Pulaski, Alsip.

Seniors will have the opportunity to take advantage of some programs offered by the Secretary of State’s Office without having to visit a driver’s facility. For instance, residents may renew, replace, or correct a driver’s license or state ID card right at the Township Hall. Renewals of a driver’s license or ID card require a current valid driver’s license. If one is looking to apply for a duplicate or corrected card of any kind, two forms of identification are required. Seniors 75 and older however, must visit a Secretary of State Driver Services facility to renew their driver’s license. REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses and ID cards must be processed at a Driver facility due to enhanced security requirements.

Other services offered at the Super Senior event include vision screenings, license plate renewal stickers, organ donor registry, motor voter registration and rules of the road review course. All payments must be made by check, credit card, debit card or money order. The Secretary of State’s Office does not accept any cash for their services.

In addition, the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office Unclaimed Property Division will also be participating. According to the state treasurer, there is more than 3.5 billion dollars in unclaimed funds for Illinoisans. The treasurer’s office holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs. Property is returned at no cost with proper identification.

Unclaimed property is explained as “accounts and other financial instruments, usually intangible, being held at corporations, financial institutions, financial intermediaries, courts, and life insurance companies, which have gone dormant for a specified period of time based on property type.

The most common examples of unclaimed property are checking and savings accounts, uncashed payroll checks, uncashed stock dividends, insurance payments, utility deposits refund checks and uncashed death benefit checks. Real estate and vehicles do not constitute unclaimed property.
