Jump start the summer with a weekend of community and creativity at the 16th annual Promenade of Art Arlington Heights on Saturday, June 9th and Sunday, June 10th. This highly anticipated art show features the work of over 110 juried artists from around the country, including several exhibitors from Arlington Heights and the surrounding suburbs. Attendees will be able to view and purchase original art work in a variety of mediums including painting, ceramics, fiber, glass jewelry, sculpture and more! The show is free and open to the public, with free parking as well. The event takes place in downtown Arlington Heights from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.
“We’re very excited about this year’s Promenade of Art,” said Amy Amdur, president of Amdur Productions, producers of the show. “We’ve got a great mix of artists from near and far, and we’re seeing some interesting new trends in art including the upcycling of materials and new digital techniques in photos such as photos that are printed on aluminum,” she added. “We’re also seeing a return to ceramics. This show is very well balanced in terms of the art that visitors will see.”
In addition to incredible artwork and on-site artist demonstrations all weekend long, attendees will also enjoy live music, fabulous food and drinks, and interactive activities for kids and adults including spin art and a giant graffiti wall. Food vendors at this year’s Promenade of Art include Tuscan Market, Magic Circle Crepes, Taco Factory and Lisa’s Italian Ice. Live entertainment will be provided by fan favorite, Cirrus Falcon.

New this year is the Arlington Heights “Hands Together” Mural Project. Kids of all ages (including adults) are invited to add their hand print to a community mural showing that Arlington Heights is a community of unique individuals, but stronger and more unified together. Each participant will get an 8” x 8” square and their choice of paint colors to create a hand print. The hand prints will become part of a 4’ x 8’ mural that will be displayed in the community. Painting can be messy, so please dress accordingly. The Arlington Heights “Hands Together” project will take place from noon – 1 pm both Saturday and Sunday.
For those wanting to be part of the art, folks can step right into a famous painting and take a free selfie! Visit the Amdur Productions’ ArtZipper booth where a special “green” screen will be in place for attendees to be part of such world-renowned pieces as Paris Street; Rainy Day by Gustave Caillebotte, Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh, Whistler’s Mother by James Abbott McNeill Whistler, and several others.
