Late Arrivals

Sure and begorrah t’will be a fine day no matter when you join us.

Please remember this is a fundraiser, so if you’re only stopping in for one or two pubs along the way we sure would appreciate a donation.

If you plan to meet us at the final stop (Tap House Grill) please try to get there early and snag a table or two.

The Train

This is St. Patrick’s Day weekend, so expect the trains to be a wee bit crowded.

We’re taking Metra’s northwest line out of Palatine. We suggest you park on the north side of the tracks, either in the train station lot or near the Tap House Grill. That way it will be easier when we return. Purchase your $8 ticket on the train.

Here’s the link with the train schedule in case you want to get on at a different stop. If you do this please text Geri 630.999.1270 so we can let you know what car we’re in. Eastbound trains run every two hours on Saturdays, while westbound trains run every hour. http://metrarail.com/metra/en/home/maps_schedules/metra_system_map/up-nw/schedule.html

Only walking and public transportation are allowed. Taxis are allowed for any leg of the trip and highly suggested for the ride home.

The Pubs

You can’t go wrong grabbing a bite to eat at any of the locations below. Just make sure you eat!!!

Sláinte! Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day expect all of our stops to be bustling with lots of people Erin Go Braghing. We have tried to reserve seats at each of the pubs, but we’re not holding our breath (and neither should you.)

Stop #1. Emerald Isle Noon – 1:30 pm

http://emeraldislebarandgrill.com/

6686 W. Northwest Hwy, Chicago 773.775.2848

It’s a block from the train station, and no doubt you’ll have worked up a thirst. Plenty of space, friendly staff, and the just the place to start the party.

DRINK SPECIALS: $4.00 Bloody Mary, $2.75 Domestic Bottles of Beer

Stop # 2. Firewater Saloon 1:30 – 2:45 pm

http://firewatersaloonchicago.com/

6689 Oliphant, Chicago 773.631.0020

It’s a country saloon, but you probably wouldn’t know it without reading this. (And that’s a high compliment!) Check out the menu online, it includes an all-day breakfast; just the thing to order up with your mimosa.

DRINK SPECIALS: Buckets: Domestic 5/$15, Imports 6/$20

Stop #3. Cortland’s Garage 3:20 – 4:05 pm

http://www.cortlandsgarage.com/main/HOME_ARLINGTON_HEIGHTS.html

1 N Vail, Arlington Hts. 847.577.2525

Before opening in September, this spot that once housed Harry’s underwent lots of renovations. But don’t worry, it hasn’t lost any of the charm of its predecessor. If you’re hungry you couldn’t go wrong with the Cortland Street Burger. Chicago Magazine named it one of the top 10 burgers in the city, and it’s won other awards as well. Buy one and split it. You won’t regret it. If you’re going to eat here order quickly, since this is our shortest stop of the day.

DRINK SPECIALS: $5.00 build your own Bloody Mary bar, $5 Mimosa, $15 Coors Light Buckets

Stop #4. McGonigal’s/The Annex 4:35 – 6:00 pm

Please note: We will be in the Annex, not in the tent, nor in McGonigal’s itself.

http://www.mcgonigalspub.com/

105 S. Cook St, Barrington 847.277.7400

Lots will be going on here as this Irish bar continues celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. The corned beef sandwich is especially good, and the Scotch egg is an interesting menu item. Live a little, give it a try.

DRINK SPECIALS: There will be specials, but you’ll have to ask.

Stop #5. Tap House Grill 6:30 pm - ???

http://www.taphousegrills.com/

56 W Wilson, Palatine 847-934-3000

Due to popular request we’re ending the crawl at Tap House Grill again this year. If you plan to meet us at this stop please try to get there early and grab a table or two. Save yourself some cash and sign up for rewards at http://www.taphousegrills.com/rewards.php to get a $10 off coupon on a $30 purchase. (It takes 24 hours to process, so don’t wait till the night before the crawl to do this.)
