Charlie Kirk Memorial To Remain Up Through Service: Arlington Heights Park District

The Arlington Heights Park District said it is making an "exception" to its policy to allow an unattended display area at North School Park.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — With a memorial service planned Sunday for Charlie Kirk in Arizona, Arlington Heights Park District officials said a display at North School Park will remain up for viewing through the weekend.

A vigil was held last Sunday for Kirk, who was born in Arlington Heights, at the park. A number of memorial tributes and items have been left at the center of the park, but those started being relocated Tuesday by park district staff to an unattended display area in the northwest corner of the park.

Officials tell Patch the park district is making an "exception" to its policy to allow the unattended display area to remain, but all items will be removed Monday morning.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday.

"Building A Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk" is scheduled for 11 a.m. (local time) at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The event is being organized by Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization for which Kirk was the CEO and co-founder.

The Daily Herald is reporting Pastor John Elleson, of Lakewood Chapel, will livestream Kirk’s service. The 1 p.m. (CT) event at the 1307 E. Palatine Road, Arlington Heights church is open to the public.
