Wheeling Township recently welcomed a new Board Member, Trisha Chokshi, a Mount Prospect resident and practicing attorney, who was appointed to fill the seat left vacant by Austin Mejdrich – who resigned due to moving out of the Township. Chokshi was sworn into office on April 28 during the Township Board meeting, and her term will run through May 21, 2029.

"We thank Austin for his thoughtful service to Wheeling Township and wish him the very best,” Wheeling Township Supervisor Maria Zeller Brauer said. “We are equally excited to welcome Trisha, whose legal expertise, experience in local government, and commitment to underserved communities make her an outstanding addition to our Board.”

Chokshi is an immigration attorney, who also focuses on residential real estate, and estate planning. She is the daughter of immigrants who came from India to build a better life and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Township in helping to guide programs and services that help residents who are facing financial hardships.

“I am anxious to get started, especially due to recent federal funding cuts that greatly affect services offered to our residents,” Chokshi said.

Chokshi also serves at the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce Board President and previously served as the Constituent Services Advocate and Grants Coordinator for U.S. Representative Tammy Duckworth of Illinois’ 8th Congressional District.

Chokshi graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DePaul University. She is married and has two young children.
