Weather forecast:
1. Speeding Car Causes Rollover Crash at Algonquin Rd in Front of Lowe's Arlington Heights (arlingtoncardinal.com) — A rollover crash in front of Lowe’s on Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights left a sedan upside down Sunday afternoon, but initial reports indicated no serious injuries. Quick-thinking bystanders helped free occupants, including an infant in a car seat, before firefighters arrived, and police are investigating witness claims that a speeding BMW sideswiped the vehicle and caused the rollover.
2. Cook County Sheriff: Suspect Wanted in McClean County for Sex Crime Arrested, Lived in Arlington Heights on Miner Street (arlingtoncardinal.com) — A man wanted in McLean County on a grooming charge was arrested last week outside an apartment building on East Miner Street in Arlington Heights after surveillance by Cook County deputies and U.S. Marshals. Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident and booked into Cook County Jail, and they’re asking locals to share tips if they recognize the building shown in the accompanying photo.
3. JB Pritzker teases ‘miracle' for new Bears stadium in Illinois, not Indiana (yardbarker.com) — Arlington Heights is back in the mix as one of the Chicago Bears’ leading options for a new stadium site, alongside Chicago’s lakefront and Hammond, Indiana. Illinois lawmakers and Gov. JB Pritzker are pushing stadium legislation that could keep the team in-state, including tax arrangements that might shape any Arlington Heights deal.
4. Mayor Brandon Johnson to tout opposition to wars during Vatican trip, says Pope wants to keep Bears in Chicago (thestate.com) — A state bill now in final negotiations could push the Chicago Bears to build a new stadium in Arlington Heights instead of staying in the city, a move Mayor Brandon Johnson opposes. During a pre-Vatican-trip stop on the South Side, Johnson said he and Pope Leo XIV agree the Bears should remain in Chicago, while he also plans to discuss war, justice, and immigration issues in Rome.
