HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — The Hoffman Estates Park District is rebranding its youth hockey program as the Hoffman Ice Hawks as it prepares to operate Tier II travel teams beginning with the Fall 2026-27 season.
The park district said its youth hockey program has received formal approval to register and operate Tier II travel teams, marking a new phase for hockey programming in Hoffman Estates.
The new Hoffman Ice Hawks name will bring the district’s hockey programs under one banner, including the current Wolf Pack, Wolverines, Timberwolves and foundational developmental hockey classes.
“We are absolutely thrilled to bring this premier level of youth hockey under the HEParks umbrella,” Hoffman Estates Park District Executive Director Craig Talsma said. “Operating the Hoffman Ice Hawks out of the Triphahn Center & Ice Arena, with our two premier sheets of ice, gives us the perfect platform to truly elevate player development.”
Talsma said the transition is “great for the development of our young athletes, fantastic for the community, and a proud milestone for HEParks.”
The Hoffman Ice Hawks will be operated, administered and overseen directly by the Hoffman Estates Park District. The district said the change will centralize player registration, program curriculum, team operations and organizational management under one public entity.
Park district officials said the consolidated program is intended to provide high-quality hockey development and competitive opportunities for players and families throughout the region.
Additional updates, including the release of the new logo, will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Hoffman Estates Park District operates the Triphahn Center & Ice Arena, along with Willow Community Center, Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club, The Club at Prairie Stone, Seascape Family Aquatic Center and the Wittkamp Senior Center.
The district maintains nearly 900 acres of open space and more than 80 parks, along with amenities including an accredited arboretum, dog parks and splash pads.
