Golfers, sponsors and community members are invited to support free, trauma-informed services for children impacted by abuse and violence during the Herb Horn Memorial Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The newly renamed charity outing honors the life of longtime Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County (CAC) former board member and past board president Herb Horn. A servant leader at heart, Horn loved CAC and golf, and the outing gives others an opportunity to replicate his generosity and care for those in need.

Every registration, sponsorship and on-course purchase helps keep CAC’s expert services free, ensuring that children in our community who are impacted by abuse or violence are heard, seen and believed. Since 1989, CAC has helped more than 20,000 children and non-offending family members hold on to hope, build resilience and live safer, healthier lives.

“Herb believed in the value of connection,” Bonnie Horn, Herb’s widow shared. “This golf outing was his baby. He would have loved it being named for him. He was so passionate about it since it was a fun way to bring people together and benefit CAC.”

For participants, the tournament is more than a day of golf. It is a chance to gather friends, colleagues and neighbors in Herb’s honor while helping CAC continue to provide local families with child-focused, trauma-informed support at no cost.

The scramble-format outing takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at the Bridges of Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates. With its rolling greens and picturesque ponds, players will enjoy the day whether they’re serious golfers or just out for fun. Individual registration is $250; foursomes registering all four players together are $900. Special pricing is available for CAC’s Multidisciplinary Team partners and for young professionals ages 30 and under.

Registration includes:

The Launcher air cannon returns to offer golfers a high-impact shot on Hole 8, while the Cheating for Charity package includes score-improving advantages (purchase required).

"We are so grateful to Herb for introducing us to CAC,” said Bob Bensdorf, CAC board member and tournament sponsor. “As Bonnie noted, Herb would have been so pleased to be remembered in this way. I’m sure he will be watching over every stroke."

Golfers of all skill levels are invited to be part of this CAC fall tradition and play with purpose in Herb’s honor. A limited number of sponsorships remain, some with golf included.
