Human Remains Found At Busse Woods During Search For Missing Schaumburg Man

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Unidentified human remains were discovered Saturday evening at Busse Woods North during a search for a Schaumburg man who has been missing for more than a month, authorities said.

The remains were found during a coordinated search for Anthony Richert, 43, whose unoccupied vehicle had previously been located at the North Grove 2 area of Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village.

Officials have not said whether the remains are believed to be those of Richert.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the person's identity and cause of death, according to authorities.

Forest Preserves of Cook County police are leading the death investigation. Investigators said there is no indication of a danger to the public.

Missing Since June 25

Richert was last seen by a family member leaving his Schaumburg home at approximately 8 p.m. June 25.

Schaumburg police previously said Richert has several medical conditions requiring medications that he did not have with him. His family and friends expressed concern for his safety and well-being.

Detectives later found Richert's vehicle parked and unoccupied at Busse Woods' North Grove 2 area. Multiple searches followed, with Schaumburg police coordinating with Forest Preserves police.

The Schaumburg Police Department has led the missing-person investigation and worked with Forest Preserves police during the weekend search operation.

Richert was last known to be wearing a blue T-shirt, black shorts, white socks, sandals and a baseball cap.
