Body Found At Busse Woods Identified As Missing Schaumburg Man

Anthony Richert, 43, had been missing since June 25 after leaving home without medication required for several medical conditions.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Human remains discovered at Busse Woods during a weekend search have been positively identified as Anthony Richert, a 43-year-old Schaumburg man missing since June, police announced.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the identification after the remains were found Saturday evening at Busse Woods North.

Richert's cause of death remains under investigation by Forest Preserves of Cook County police in coordination with the medical examiner's office. Authorities previously said there was no indication of a danger to the public.

Missing Since June 25

Richert was last seen by a family member leaving his Schaumburg home at approximately 8 p.m. June 25.

Schaumburg police said he had several medical conditions requiring medications that he did not have with him. His family and friends had expressed concern for his safety and well-being.

Detectives later found Richert's vehicle parked and unoccupied at the North Grove 2 area of Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village.

Several searches of the area followed, with Schaumburg police coordinating efforts with Forest Preserves police and other agencies.

As Patch previously reported, unidentified remains were found Saturday evening during a search for Richert. Officials initially said the medical examiner would determine the person's identity and cause of death. (patch.com)

Police Thank Search Crews

The Schaumburg Police Department thanked everyone who assisted in the search.

The department specifically recognized the Forest Preserves of Cook County Police Department, Illinois Search and Rescue Council, Illinois-Wisconsin Search Dogs, Cook County Sheriff's Office, DuPage County K9 teams and the Salvation Army.

Richert had last been seen wearing a blue T-shirt, black shorts, white socks, sandals and a baseball cap.

Additional information about the cause and manner of death will be released when available.
