Traffic Safety Checkpoint Planned Near Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect

Cook County Sheriff's Police and two suburban departments will conduct the checkpoint.

COOK COUNTY, IL — Drivers near Elk Grove Village and Mount Prospect should expect a traffic safety checkpoint next week.

Cook County Sheriff's Police, working with the Elk Grove Village and Mount Prospect police departments, will conduct the checkpoint from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, until 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, near the intersection of Busse Road and Howard Street.

Officers will be checking for compliance with Illinois driver's license and vehicle registration requirements, as well as seat belt and child safety restraint laws.

Police will also be watching for impaired drivers.

Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said the routine checkpoint is intended to promote roadway safety, increase seat belt use and help reduce crashes in Cook County.

The checkpoint is being funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
