ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Euclid Avenue resurfacing and a traffic signal replacement at Wilke Road are moving forward with nearly $2.4 million approved by the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
The board approved $2,376,619 for the Arlington Heights improvements as part of a package of transportation planning, design and construction contracts, according to a county announcement.
The announcement did not specify the limits of the Euclid Avenue resurfacing, a construction schedule or anticipated traffic impacts.
The contracts support projects overseen by the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways. County officials said the work is intended to improve transportation infrastructure, operations and safety while supporting the regional economy.
Commissioners also approved $4.5 million for countywide traffic signal and electrical engineering services. The work includes collecting data, monitoring and optimizing traffic signal systems, and preparing and reviewing engineering designs for signals and roadway lighting.
Another $1,515,325 will fund a preliminary engineering study for the Central Des Plaines River Trail. The study will identify a preferred alignment for approximately 2.5 miles between 26th Street in North Riverside and the Illinois Prairie Path in Maywood, supporting the continued development of the regional trail system.
