HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — Hoffman Estates police will conduct additional traffic enforcement operations targeting speeding, impaired driving and other dangerous behaviors with support from a federal highway safety grant, the department announced Monday.
The department received a federal fiscal year 2027 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant, funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The grant period runs from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027. Additional enforcement will focus particularly on high-risk periods, according to the department.
Officers will target speeding, impaired and distracted driving, failure to yield, disobeying traffic signals and seat belt violations.
The department will also participate in statewide campaigns, including "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket," during periods associated with heightened traffic risks.
The enforcement efforts are intended to reduce crashes and save lives, according to the department.
