Joseph M. Tracy (R)11,31733.45%

Canty said her next term would focus on everyday costs, property tax relief, public schools and jobs. The district includes Arlington Heights and portions of nearby Northwest suburban communities.

"I'm grateful to the volunteers, community advocates, local leaders and voters who stood with our campaign," Canty said in a statement released Tuesday night.

"Everywhere I went in the district, I heard about the same issues from my neighbors: lower costs for everyday essentials, real property tax relief, stronger investment in our local schools and good-paying jobs. That's the work I'll be focused on in the upcoming veto session and throughout the next General Assembly."

A former Arlington Heights village trustee, Canty was sworn into the Illinois House in January 2023 after defeating Republican Michelle Hunter in the November 2022 election. Her Village Board term continued through April 2023.

Later that January, she welcomed residents to a grand opening at her district office on East Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights.

In announcing her reelection, Canty's campaign highlighted her work on full-day kindergarten, protections for sensitive electronic health records, elimination of the state grocery tax and higher income limits for property tax exemptions for low-income seniors.

According to the campaign, Canty also chairs the Illinois House Democratic Women's Caucus.

"Our residents are looking for results, not political gamesmanship," Canty said. "I'll continue to work with anyone, from either party, who wants to make the 54th District a more affordable place to raise a family, start a business, and retire. I'm honored to keep doing this work for my neighbors."

Election results are unofficial until certified by election authorities.
