Are you Mobile Friendly? Google #Mobilegeddon Requires Mobile Friendly Website

Google begins ranking mobile friendly websites higher in search. If you haven't updated your website in a couple years, now is the time.

Google #Mobilegeddon Requires Mobile Responsive Sites

You may have heard about the upcoming #mobilegeddon, but is there really a reason to panic? Google
has announced on 04/21, there will be an update to their mysterious algorithm. The algorithm will be
adjusted to prioritize mobile responsive sites in search results. If your site hasn’t been updated in the last
couple years, then you probably need to take action.

1.) Why do I need a Mobile Responsive website?
“Starting April 21, we (Google) will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This
change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our
search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are
optimized for their devices.”

2.) Will your site be ‘dropped’ from Google Listings for not being responsive?

“The official announcement of the update says that it will be rolled out April 21st, that does not mean that
it will roll out specifically on that date, just that they are targeting that date for release.
The update will deal with non-mobile friendly websites that were ranking for terms within the mobile
search results, sites that were seen to be offering a mobile friendly user experience would be given a
ranking factor boost, however non-mobile friendly sites would not be simply removed from the search
results.”

3.) What does a Mobile Responsive website do for me?
Pros of Responsive Web Design:
-Highly flexible – one responsive website works on all devices, so only one site has to be created
and maintained.
-This is Google’s recommended configuration.
-Can be a better return on investment since most responsive sites won’t need much future
maintenance to comply with new browsers.
