Arlington Heights Man Held on $2.5M Bail in Child Sex Abuse Case

Prosecutors accuse Juan Martinez, 44, of sexually abusing a girl for years, beginning in 2013 when she was 5.

A 44-year-old Arlington Heights man faces sexual abuse charges and is being held on $2.5 million bail Friday in connection with assaulting a girl for years since she was 5, the Daily Herald reports.

Juan Martinez was charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual abuse, and a Cook County judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim or any minor, the report stated. If convicted, Martinez would face a minimum sentence of 24 years in jail.

Prosecutors accuse Martinez of having a history of abuse with a girl that started when she was a kindergartener in 2013, the Herald reports. The girl reported the abuse to a school social worker earlier this month, and authorities claim the victim was last abused by Martinez this week, a detail that led to prosecutors recommending the high bail, the report added.
