Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes Will Run for 2nd Term in 2017

Hayes wants to focus on infrastructure improvements if he's re-elected as village president in April.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — After a first term he describes has going by "very quickly," Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes announced he will be running for a second term as village president in 2017, the Daily Herald reports.

Hayes, 59, pointed to unanimous support from the village board, as well as his success in maintaining a low village crime rate, creating a strong financial and business profile and building an overall high quality of life, as the reasons for running for re-election, according to the Herald.

In his second term, Hayes, who was a village trustee for 22 years before being elected as mayor in 2013, plans to see the building of a new police station through and improve Arlington Heights' infrastructure and stormwater system, the report added.
