Arlington Heights OKs Wine, Beer at Salons

So far, one salon in town has expressed interest in serving alcohol to its customers.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Those stopping out for a haircut or a pedicure at a salon in Arlington Heights may soon be able to also enjoy a glass of wine. On Monday, the village board OK'd a new liquor license classification, which could make all of the 92 registered cosmetologists, nail technicians and barbershops in town eligible to apply for a liquor license. The businesses would first need to complete a background check and sign up for liquor liability insurance, according to the Daily Herald.

The businesses would also need final approve from Arlington Heights village board.

So far, one salon in town, Forbici Salon and Spa, 7 S. Highland Avenue, has expressed an interest in serving alcohol to its customers, according to the article. Under the liquor code changes, cosmetic facilities would only be able to serve beer or wine, and customers would be limited to two servings per day.

Other suburban towns that already allow spas and salons to sell alcohol include: Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Niles, Oak Brook, Barrington, Glenview, Glencoe, Naperville, Niles and Lincolnshire.
