Arlington Heights Parade Cancelled Due to Threat of Storms

The Arlington Heights Parade was supposed to be held Monday morning.

One of the largest Memorial Day parades in the suburbs has been cancelled due to severe storms expected Monday, the Daily Herald reports.

The Arlington Heights parade had over 3,500 people participate last year and thousands watching along the 1.25-mile parade route.

Parade officials decided to cancel the parade due to thunderstorms expected for the area, according to the article. Greg Padovani, chairman of the Arlington Heights Veterans Memorial Committee, told the Daily Herald there were not enough places to safely shelter the amount of people participating in and viewing the parade if the storms got bad.
