Armed Man Taken Into Custody In Mount Prospect: Police

Residents were advised to avoid the area of Lavergne Drive for several hours Sunday night.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — An armed man, how had been barricaded for several hours by police, has "safely been taken into custody," according to a social media post by Mount Prospect. The update was sent out at around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Police were advising residents to avoid the area of the 1100 block of Lavergne Drive Sunday night, as an armed person was barricaded. Police said in a social media post there was a heavy police presence in the area.

"Please stay clear of the area to allow officers to focus on the barricaded subject.," the post concludes.
