HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — A motorcyclist accused of pulling a gun on Hoffman Estates police officers during a traffic stop earlier this month is facing multiple felony charges, authorities said.
Dhruv Patel, 25, was charged Monday with aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer and four counts of aggravated resisting arrest, according to the Hoffman Estates Police Department.
Police said the incident happened at around 6:41 p.m. May 14 in the 5700 block of River Birch Drive. An officer had stopped a motorcycle that was being driven on a public road without valid registration.

Police said officers were able to maintain physical control of Patel until additional units arrived. Responding officers disarmed Patel and placed him under arrest.
Minor injuries were reported by officers, while Patel was not injured, police said. Patel was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the felony charges Monday. Patel is due in court Tuesday in Rolling Meadows.
