Armed Robbery Reported At Schaumburg Bank: Police

SCHAUMBURG, IL — An armed robbery occurred Wednesday afternoon at a U.S. Bank location in Schaumburg. According to police, the robbery happened at around 1:25 p.m. at the 60 S. Meacham Road.

A large police presence was at the scene for an investigation, but it has since cleared as of 4 p.m., the Village of Schaumburg said in a social media post.

Police are searching for a male, approximately 6 foot tall, last seen wearing a brown Carhartt jacket, black shoes with white soles, and carrying a black Under Armour backpack. He was last seen running southbound from the scene, armed with a black handgun.

Police said citizens in the immediate area were issued a message asking them to shelter in place for their safety. Motorists were being asked to avoid the area. Citizens should be alert of their surroundings and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
