Arrest Made In Fatal Crash Investigation: Elk Grove Village PD
A resident faces multiple charges stemming from an August 2025 collision that killed a 59-year-old woman.
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — An arrest has been made in a fatal crash that killed a 59-year-old woman last year. Mohamed Mohamed, 50, of Elk Grove Village, is accused of speeding 35 miles per hour or more over the posted limit, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Charges of reckless homicide had been sought, but not approved based on recovered evidence, according to the Elk Grove Village Police Department. The charges were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office against Mohamed, who was arrested Monday.

As Patch previously reported, the crash occurred at around 11:07 a.m. Aug. 23, 2025, in the 800 block of South Arlington Heights Road, and shut down traffic near the Elk Crossing Shopping Center for nearly eight hours.
The subsequent investigation revealed Mohamed was traveling southbound in a 2023 black Lincoln Navigator on Arlington Heights Road. Maria De Lourdes Jimenez, driving a 2014 silver Nissan Rogue, was turning northbound from the Elk Crossing Shopping Center when her vehicle was struck by Mohamed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
