Barry Levinson's "The Natural" at Star Cinema Grill

1984 Robert Redford baseball classic to screen on Nov 4 in Arlington Heights at the Star Cinema Grill.

The Blue Whiskey Cinema Series, a monthly program offered by the Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival, will present a one night only screening of the 1984 Robert Redford baseball drama, The Natural (nominated for 4 Oscars). The film will be shown at the Star Cinema Grill (53 S. Evergreen Avenue) in Arlington Heights on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m.

On the way to a tryout with the Chicago Cubs, young baseball phenom Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) is shot by the unstable Harriet Bird (Barbara Hershey). After 16 years, Hobbs returns to pro baseball as a rookie for the last-place New York Knights. Despite early arguments with his manager, Pop Fisher (Wilford Brimley), Hobbs becomes one of the best players in the league, and the Knights start winning. But this upsets the Judge (Robert Prosky), their owner, who wants Hobbs to lose games, not win.

The Blue Whiskey Cinema Series hosts screenings at the Star Cinema Grill in Arlington Heights every first Wednesday of the month. The program is determined by the regular attendees as they vote each month for their preferred selections. For more information about the cinema series, visit BlueWhiskeyCinema.com.
