Friends of the Library Summer Sale August 7-9, 2026
The Friends of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library will host their Summer Used Book Sale August 7-9, 2026. The standard price of Adult hardcover and softcover books is $3.
• Friday August 7: 6 pm – 7:30 pm Members’ Night (Membership required)
• Saturday August 8: 9 am – 4 pm Adults’ and Children’s Sales
• Sunday August 9: 11 am - 2 pm Children’s $8 Bag Sale, 11 am - 3 pm Adult Sale (no discounts)
The Adult sale is held in the Hendrickson Room, on the 2nd floor, and the Children’s sale is held in the Cardinal Room on the 1st floor near the Dunton Avenue entrance. The Adult sale will feature non-fiction books, sorted by category; fiction; vintage books; DVDs; Blu-Rays; music CDs; vinyl records; audiobooks; Great Courses. Magazines will be for sale Friday and Saturday only. The Children’s sale features board and picture books; easy readers; novels and non-fiction; teen fiction; comics; toys and games; DVDs and CDs.
The Auction on the 2nd floor will include Adult and Children’s selections. Bidding begins Friday at 6pm and ends Saturday August 8 at 2 pm. Winners will be called Saturday. There will be no Buy-It-Now (BIN) table in August.
Due to popular demand, the sale will feature a $1 Special table that will include vintage, adult non-fiction, oversized/ coffee table books, and more!
Friday Members’ Night (Numbers Available for Members’ Night August 7 starting at 9 am):
• A person must be a member to enter Members’ Night. Memberships may be purchased that night at the sale or in advance online at <a href="https://www.ahml.info/friends" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">ahml.info/friends</a> ($5 individual, $10 family).
• To get a place in line early, members may pick up a number at the 2nd floor reception desk beginning Friday August 7 at 9 am.
• Friday Members’ Night Line-Up: Shoppers should arrive 15 minutes before the sale begins to line up in numerical order for entry. Members may enter using their paper or digital card or a number from the Membership table, after those with numbers have gone in.
Sale Requirements &amp; Information:
• Scanning is not allowed at FOL sales on any device. Please call or text outside the salerooms.
• Children’s Sale Only: 25% Teacher discount with valid ID. Not valid at bag sale on Sunday.
• Everyone’s patience and courtesy to others is appreciated.
The Arlington Heights Memorial Library is located at 500 N Dunton Avenue.
The Friends accept cash, checks, credit cards, Apple Pay and PayPal for payment.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary season, The Theater Lab, a District 214 Community Education program, returns to the production that started it all: William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and is thrilled to announce the cast. The production will be a limited six-performance run, August 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23, 2026, at the Forest View Educational Center Theater in Arlington Heights.&nbsp;
A tangled web of love, mischief, and magic unfolds in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream (or, as it appeared in Shakespeare's 1623 First Folio, A Midsommer Nights Dreame), where enchanted forests blur the line between reality and illusion. As four young lovers lose their way under a spell gone wrong, a band of bumbling actors prepares a play, and a feud between the fairy king and queen sends the natural world into chaos. With transformation, mistaken identity, and whimsical humor at every turn, this beloved comedy invites audiences into a dreamlike world where anything — and anyone — can change overnight.

“Though we’re returning to our ‘roots’ by producing the first show The Theater Lab performed at the Forest View Educational Theater in 2016, it's an exciting challenge to bring this production to life with a fresh perspective,” said artistic director, John Meyers. “This is the third time I’ve directed this Shakespeare classic, and every time I discover something new.”

“We have our favorite mix of people in the cast of this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream — some who have been with us since our very first production and others making their stage debut,” said The Theater Lab coordinating producer Patrick Zielinski. “I love the variety of experience and the different connections people have with our organization. It creates an incredible sense of community and an energy that's truly exciting to be part of.”
The enchanted cast of The Theater Lab’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, features (in alphabetical order) Jorge Bello (Lysander), Caryl Davidson (Peter Quince), Sylvain Field (Puck), Erin Fleming (Nick Bottom), Keri Graham (Robin Starveling), Egor J Gribbet (Theseus), Karin Hansen (Titania), Jane Heyman (Hippolyta), Sarah Jane “SJ” Heyman (Peaseblossom), Aimee Jaske (Helena), Hunter Johnson (Demetrius, Flute), Inaya Latif (Mustardseed), McKenna Marie (Oberon), Rachel Misic (Moth), Nancy Morrison (Tom Snout), Patricia Tinsley (Snug, Egeus), Grace Vestal (Cobweb), Karen Warlin (Philostrate), Kaylee Williams (Hermia), and dancers from Mt. Prospect School of Classical Ballet’s touring repertory company, Ballet Expressions.
The creative team includes John Meyers (Artistic and Production Director), Patrick Zielinski (Coordinating Producer), Chris Good (Production and Stage Manager), Teresa J. Performances are Friday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16 at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, August 22 at 3:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 23 at 3:00 p.m. and will take place at the Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 South Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
