Chicago Area Man's Ashes Lost In The Mail
A son tried to ship his father's ashes from California to an Arlington Heights funeral home, but they never arrived, according to reports.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A son is seeking answers after his father’s cremated remains were lost in the mail when he attempted to ship them from California to Illinois, according to multiple reports.
Colin McGuire’s father, Arlington Heights native Daniel McGuire, died about a year ago, and not long after, Colin McGuire’s grandmother died as well, WLS reported. A joint service was set for last week in Arlington Heights, but Daniel McGuire's ashes never arrived at the funeral home, Colin McGuire, who now lives in California, told WGN.
The grieving son has opened a consumer affairs case and intends to contact his congressperson as well, according to WLS. The postal service offered condolences and apologized, and said the agency was committed to resolving the issue, WGN reported.
