Arlington Heights Village Trustee Colin Gilbert has announced his candidacy for Village Trustee in the Consolidated Election on Tuesday, April 6, 2027. The Hersey High School graduate pledges to continue providing thoughtful, transparent, and fiscally responsible leadership for the community he has proudly served and called home for nearly two decades.

Colin was appointed by Arlington Heights Mayor Jim Tinaglia to fill an open seat on the Village Board in October of 2025 and is seeking election to continue his dedicated public service. He has been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years, is a partner at a local law firm, and the only attorney currently on the Village Board. Throughout his professional career, he has built a record of civic engagement and community leadership focused on preserving and strengthening the qualities that make Arlington Heights a highly desirable place to live, work, and raise a family.

"I’m extremely honored to serve the residents and businesses of Arlington Heights as a Village Trustee and am asking for the opportunity to continue that service," Gilbert said. "Our community's strength comes from engaged community members, responsible leadership, and a shared commitment to protecting what makes Arlington Heights such a vibrant and sought after community. My goal is to continue engaging with residents and businesses, and working with my fellow trustees and Village staff to ensure our community remains strong for generations to come."

Colin’s priorities would continue to be focused on public safety, thoughtful and responsible future development, fiscal transparency and keeping taxes low – all reflecting his belief that local government works best when it is focused on serving the community’s best interests.

The commitment Colin has to Arlington Heights extends well beyond the Village Board. He previously served on the Village's Special Events Commission and has held numerous leadership roles within the business and nonprofit communities. These include President and an Executive Board member of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce and founding Board Member of Gerri’s Café – a community coffeehouse that empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing meaningful employment.

"Together, we can continue building on Arlington Heights' tradition of strong leadership and thoughtful growth, while protecting the values and quality of life that make our community exceptional," Gilbert said.

After graduating from Hersey High School, Colin received his Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois at Champaign, and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent Law School.

Colin is married to his wife Lisa, and together, they are proud parents of three sons. For more information, visit electcolingilbert.com.
