College Credits: Local Students Graduate From Ohio University

Area students from Arlington Heights are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Area students graduate from Ohio University
More than 5,000 students graduated with bachelor's, master's or doctorate degrees from Ohio University for spring semester 2020. Area students included:

  • Courtney Daugerdas, of Arlington Heights, with Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Cassidy Selep, of Arlington Heights, with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Journalism

More than 9,500 students qualified for the spring semester 2020 Dean's List at Ohio University, including main and regional campuses. Both Daugerdas and Selep were also named to the dean's list. Students on the Dean's List came from an array of states, as more than 40 states were represented, including: Kentucky, Alabama, Maryland, California, Virginia, Connecticut, Florida and Ohio, as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

Doner makes Dean's List at Monmouth College

Joseph Doner, a French and international studies major from Arlington Heights, has made the Dean's List at Monmouth College for the Spring 2020 semester. Making the list requires a GPA of at least 3.5 for the semester while taking at least 3.0 credit hours.

Residents named to dean's list at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The following students were named to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean's List for the 2020 spring semester:

  • Abby Carson, of Arlington Heights
  • Abby Greenspan, of Arlington Heights
  • Tiga Gritzmacher, of Arlington Heights
  • Alissa Muscarello, of Arlington Heights
  • Ralitza Stavreva, of Arlington Heights

  • Ryan Vedner, of Arlington Heights
  • Kari Webber, of Arlington Heights

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

Local students graduate from the University of Alabama

The University of Alabama awarded some 6,326 degrees this spring. Among the graduates was:

  • Allison Brand, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Education.
  • Carly Cooper, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science.
  • Colin Doyle, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration.
  • Meghan Finn, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences.
  • Kristin Geraghty, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mark Hoffman, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Patrick Lifka, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Education.
  • Shea Mahoney, of Arlington Heights, who received a Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences.
  • Reed Wilson, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration and a Master of Science.
  • Sarah Zombo, of Arlington Heights, who received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration.

The recent change to remote learning during this unprecedented time affected the University's plans for traditional commencement activities. However, commencement is a milestone, and the University wants graduates to have the opportunity to walk across the stage in celebration of their success. Although any plans are contingent on how the summer outlook progresses, all spring graduates are invited to participate in the summer commencement events scheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1.

Martino named to Trine University President's List

Sara Martino, of Arlington Heights, was named to the President's List for the Spring 2020 term.
Martino is majoring in Undeclared.

To earn President's List honors, students at Trine University's main campus and Fort Wayne Center for Health Sciences must complete a minimum of 15 hours and have a grade point average of 3.750-4.000.

Residents receive degrees from Clemson University

Clemson University awarded more than 4,007 degrees in May 2020. Local graduates included:

  • Jack Patrick Horan, of Arlington Heights, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.
  • Steven Daniel Skrypec, of Arlington Heights, graduated with a Master of Science degree in Packaging Science.

More than 2600 students were named to Bradley's Dean's List for Spring 2020. To be eligible for the Dean's List a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.
