One of the interns, Lindsey Rayner, is a senior at the University of Iowa and is majoring in Communication Studies and Political Science.
“I have learned the importance of details, and a resident-focused approach to governing. The residents who utilize services, as well as the people who are administering those services, are essential members of this community.”

“I’ve enjoyed working in the food pantry and on community outreach initiatives such as the Back to School Blast Off, a school supply drive for CCSD 59. It’s been an opportunity to learn about the challenges that can arise from the struggles area residents face, and the types of activities the Township is managing to combat them,” Knott said.
The interns work directly with the Elk Grove Township Administrator and Director of General Assistance to develop programs that will benefit Township residents. Other responsibilities include attending Township meetings, as well as meetings that occur with other local government bodies and community partners.
