Congressman Krishnamoorthi Responds to Report of President Trump's Providing Classified Material to Russian Government.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, a member of the House Oversight Committee, released the following statement in response to reports of President Trump’s revealing code-word level intelligence to representatives of the Russian government.
“Last week, President Trump allegedly provided code-word level intelligence to the Russian government the day after he fired the Director of the FBI based on his reasoning that, ‘you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story.’

In his meeting in the Oval Office, the President reportedly exposed a key intelligence source because he felt like bragging to representatives of a hostile power.

As a member of the Oversight Committee, I can honestly say there is no excuse left to not create an independent commission to perform a full-scale investigation of the Russian government’s interference in our democracy and the potential complicity of members of both the Trump presidential campaign and President Trump’s administration.
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform exists for the expressed purpose of overseeing our government, and must hold hearings to provide the American people with the answers they deserve to restore their faith in our government. There is no reason for further delay.”
