Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Renews May 12th Call for Trump Administration to Turn Over White House Tapes

The American people deserve to know whether President Trump was attempting to intimidate Director Comey with actual recordings.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, a member of the House Oversight Committee, released the following statement in response to former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony and the White House’s claim that it has “no idea” if the tapes President Trump threatened Director Comey with actually exist:

“The disparities between former FBI Director Comey’s testimony and President Trump’s statements on their meetings reinforce the importance of the White House Counsel's compliance with my request to provide the House Oversight Committee with any White House tapes or recordings connected to the Russia investigation and Director Comey’s firing.

Now is the time for the White House Counsel to definitively confirm or deny the existence of a recording system in the White House because the American people deserve to know whether President Trump was attempting to intimidate Director Comey with actual recordings or just bluster.”
