Cop Struck In Head By Bottle During Disturbance: Palatine PD

Officers encountered a large group of people, several of whom were actively fighting and uncooperative with police.

PALATINE, IL — Several arrests have been made following a disturbance last month in Palatine. Police responded to a report of a large fight in progress at around 11 p.m. June 28, in the 700 block of E. Rand Grove Lane.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a large group of people, several of whom were actively fighting and uncooperative with police while trying to restore order. During the incident, police said two 16-year-old males were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer.

Police also intervened in a separate altercation involving Tashonda Robinson, 35, of the 700 block of E. Rand Grove Lane, Palatine, and Erie Brown, 43, of the 2200 block of Nichols Road, Arlington Heights. During the encounter, a Palatine officer was struck in the head with a bottle swung by Brown and grabbed around the head by Robinson, sustaining injuries that were not life-threatening.

Robinson was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer. Brown was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and a misdemeanor count of battery.

Both were released following a detention hearing last week and are due back in court on Aug. 8.
