Could Tim Tebow Play for the Schaumburg Boomers?
The Frontier League baseball team offered the ex-NFL QB an unspecified contract to play outfield. Should he sign with the Boomers?

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow might not have learned anything from the excruciatingly painful but brief baseball career of Michael Jordan.
But it appears that the Schaumburg Boomers learned quite a bit from the promotional and financial benefits the Birmingham Barons reaped when the NBA's GOAT played with the minor league baseball team in 1994.
So when Tebow announced Tuesday he was now interested in pursuing a pro baseball career, the independent Frontier League team was quick to offer the 29-year-old a contract to play outfield for the Boomers.

“We’re looking for an athletic outfielder who can bring some leadership and competitiveness into the clubhouse,” manager Jamie Bennett stated in a team press release. “Tebow brings all of those characteristics and then some. I think he’d be a great fit here in Schaumburg.”
The team did not release contract details, but Tebow plans to workout for major league scouts later this month before he signs with any team.

But how good a fit is Tebow—who hasn't played baseball since he was a high school junior more than a decade ago—for the Boomers or any team this side of an after-work, beer league squad? In fact, Tebow hasn't even played in a regular season professional sporting event since 2012 when he played for the New York Jets.
“I understand that Tim’s ultimate goal is to make it to the major leagues, just like every other guy on our team,” general manager Pete Laven stated in the team's release. “With our proximity to Chicago and the fact that major league scouts come through our park on a regular basis, I think this is the perfect situation for Tim to showcase his skills in a game situation.”
