Des Plaines Motorcyclist, 31, Killed In Mount Prospect Crash
Police said the motorcycle and a Jeep collided Saturday night at Oakton Street and First Avenue.
MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A 31-year-old Des Plaines man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep in Mount Prospect, police said.
Mount Prospect police responded at about 8:06 p.m. Sept. 12, to the intersection of Oakton Street and First Avenue for a report of a serious crash involving a vehicle and motorcycle.
Officers found the motorcyclist in the roadway and began life-saving measures, according to police.

The Mount Prospect Fire Department transported the rider, identified as Daniel Nikov, 31, of Des Plaines, to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation found Nikov was riding west on Oakton Street and approaching First Avenue in the median lane when a Jeep SUV exited First Avenue to turn left onto eastbound Oakton Street, police said.

The Jeep and motorcycle collided.
The Jeep was driven by a 19-year-old Carpentersville man, who was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
Oakton Street was closed between Badger Road and Higgins Road, also known as Route 72, during the investigation. The roadway reopened at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
The Mount Prospect Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Team is investigating the fatal crash.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information to contact the Major Crash Investigation Team at 847-818-5301.
