Donation to Pay for Bulletproof Vest for Arlington Heights K9 Officer

Yara, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, will soon receive a bulletproof vest following donations made by two companies.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - Two companies have teamed up to pay for a bulletproof vest for an Arlington Heights Police Department K9 officer.

Yara, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, joined the police department in September 2015. Officer Jeff Tegtmeyer and Yara trained together at Vohne Liche in Denver, Ind. for five weeks and now patrol the community together, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department press release.

Animal Feeds and Needs, an Arlington Heights pet supply retailer, and Fromm Family Pet Food, of Mequon, Wis, joined forces to pay for Yara's safety vest. A custom fit vest, which cost $800, has been ordered and will be delivered in six week.
