MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A passenger of a white Toyota flashed gang signs at a pedestrian before shooting at him after he entered his own car Monday in the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive. Police said the victim was not struck by any bullets or injured, but his vehicle sustained damage from the gunshots.

Police responded to the scene at around 7:43 p.m. following a 911 call report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they learned a white-colored Toyota sedan entered the apartment parking lot and a passenger in the vehicle began flashing gang signs at a person walking to their vehicle.

After a short verbal exchange, the Toyota exited the parking lot. The victim entered his vehicle and was driving on Wheeling Road when he realized that the same white Toyota was in front of his vehicle as they approached the intersection with Boxwood Drive. The offender then began shooting toward the victim’s vehicle from the Toyota. The Toyota fled the area northbound on Wheeling Road toward Euclid Avenue, according to police.
