Driver, 83, Killed In St. Patrick's Day Crash: Mount Prospect PD
Wolf Road was closed between Feehanville Drive and Central Road for nearly six hours following the Monday night crash.
MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — An 83-year-old Mount Prospect man was killed after being struck by another Monday night at the intersection of Wolf Road and Thayer Street. Gallardo Lebron was found unresponsive and not breathing behind the wheel of his Chrysler SUV. He was extricated and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by the Des Plaines Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead.
Wolf Road was closed between Feehanville Drive and Central Road for nearly six hours following the Monday night crash.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has revealed Lebron was traveling eastbound on Thayer Street at Wolf Road at around 6:36 p.m. when pulled out to make a left turn onto Wolf Road. A Mercedes-Benz sedan, driven by a 21-year-old Des Plaines man, was traveling southbound on Wolf Road approaching the intersection with Thayer Street when it struck the driver's side of Lebron's vehicle.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz reported no injuries as a result of the crash.
This crash is currently being investigated by the Mount Prospect Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team, along with the assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team. Wolf Road was closed between Feehanville Drive and Central Road and reopened at approximately 12:12 a.m.
