Driver Killed After Striking IDOT Plow In Mount Prospect: Police

Route 62 was closed for nearly eight hours following the Saturday morning incident.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A 20-year-old woman was killed Saturday morning after her SUV struck the back of an Illinois Department of Transportation plow truck on Algonquin Road (Route 63) west of Busse Road. Police said Abigail Davis, of Mount Prospect, was found dead at the scene of the 5:45 a.m. incident.

The southeast bound lanes of Algonquin Road, between Dempster Street and Busse Road, was closed for nearly eight hours, reopening at around 1:30 p.m., according to Mount Prospect police. This fatal traffic crash is being investigated by the Mount Prospect Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team, along with the assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.

Police said Davis was driving her Ford Edge in the southeast bound lanes of Algonquin Road when the crash occurred. The driver of the plow truck reported no injuries, but was taken to a local hospital by the Mount Prospect Fire Department for evaluation.
