Drunken Speedster Flees Cops After Refusing To Pull Over: Palatine PD
The Palatine man, who reportedly had a loaded handgun, was charged with several felonies among other offenses.

PALATINE, IL — A Palatine man is due in court following an incident Sunday night in which he reportedly refused to pull over for police and later attempted to flee officers on foot. Carlos Miranda Pina, 24, of the 1300 block of N. Geneva Drive, is accused of the following:
- felony unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon
- felony aggravated fleeing and eluding
- driving under the influence
- resisting a peace officer
- reckless driving
- speeding
- multiple business and petty offense traffic violations, including operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Pina was arrested following the incident and was scheduled to have a detention hearing Monday. He is due back in court on Dec. 5.
According to police, an officer patrolling the area of N. Rand Road and Williams Drive attempted to stop a car traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Pena, refused to stop and fled into a nearby parking lot in the 1300 block of Geneva Drive.

While reportedly driving recklessly through the parking lot, the suspect's vehicle struck multiple unoccupied parked vehicles, which eventually left Pena's car inoperable.
Soon thereafter, Pena reportedly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by officers on the scene. He was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun at the time of arrest.
