Suburban BBQ staple, Rack House Kitchen & Tavern (222 E. Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights), is firing up the grill in anticipation of 2016’s arrival. In addition to the venue’s signature house-smoked fare, Rack House will offer a selection of specialty New Year’s Eve menu items for guests looking to kick back and celebrate in delicious fashion. Guests can start their meal on a high note with a Pork Belly and Arugula Salad ($9), made with house-smoked pork belly, fresh arugula and pecorino Romano, topped with lemon truffle vinaigrette and served alongside a crispy lavosh, or the Mushroom Flatbread ($9), topped with roasted wild mushrooms, herbed goat cheese, caramelized leeks and fresh chives. For the main event, diners can indulge in the Pan-Seared Trout ($17), served alongside a cannellini bean ragout, baby leeks, cherry tomatoes, spinach and a lemon-parsley vinaigrette, as well as the Smoked Strip Loin ($24), a house-smoked 10 oz. strip loin served with ricotta whipped potatoes, sautéed haricot verts and a bleu cheese compound butter. With an array of moonshine cocktails, local craft beers and regionally distilled whiskeys, who needs champagne?
