Illinois Girl With Down Syndrome Models For American Girl
The 9-year-old girl from Arlington Heights was asked to model for the American Girl holiday catalog, which was recently released.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL —Annie Osterhues' classmates in Arlington Heights were among the first people she shared the American Girl holiday catalog with when it came out last month. Osterhues, 9, is among the models featured in this year's catalog, the Daily Herald reports.
Osterhues, a third grader, has Down Syndrome, and it is her second time modeling for the American Girl holiday catalog. Two years ago, her older sister Nellie, who was in second grade at the time, also appeared in the catalog, according to the article.
Susan Jevers, associate manager for public relations for American Girl, told the Daily Herald the company aims to include "the unique qualities of all girls" in its catalogs and began including girls with Down syndrome in its advertisements in 2014.
