Girlfriend Hides Gun Following Argument: Elk Grove Village PD

Police used a loudspeaker to contact a female and three children inside the home, who were not answering phone calls or knocks at the door.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — A verbal argument between a male and his girlfriend led to the latter hiding a firearm and a police response late Sunday night in the 700 block of Mexico Trail. The gun was eventually found and no one was harmed.

Elk Grove Village police responded to an unknown problem at the location at around 10:43 p.m. The male told police he was having an argument with his girlfriend when she took his firearm and hid it in an unknown location. Police eventually made contact with the girlfriend and learned there was another adult female and three children in the home, all unharmed. After an extensive preliminary investigation, police found the firearm in a closet and took it for temporary safe keeping.

During the incident, police asked neighbors to stay inside their homes and used a loudspeaker in an attempt to contact those in the home, who were initially unresponsive to phone calls and knocking on the door.
